About The Blog

I started this blog to connect with other women who are interested in traditional homemaking and embracing a nature-based spiritual lifestyle. As someone new to the homemaker’s journey, I aim to share my experiences, including skills like cooking from scratch, gardening, and hand sewing—all while exploring my spiritual practice as a blended-faith pagan. It’s a learning as you go blog, as I am new to this life as well. I grew up in the working class and spent much of my 20s and 30s career searching. But after way too many job rejections and a lot of stress and anxiety, I realized I had far more value in being a homemaker. It’s where I really feel I can be myself.

If you had told my younger self that this was what I’d be doing, I would have never believed it. That’s why I created this blog. Because there are a lot of young women out there who are being told that being a career woman is the only way to go. And if being a career woman is really what you want, there’s no issue with that. But there’s nothing wrong with choosing to stay home either, as long as you understand that homemaking is a job. There are a lot of skills and resources that go into it and that is what this blog is for.

I have always found that the best way to learn is by teaching others as I go. So I hope you find this blog valuable.

Homemaking

Homemaking is the heart of this blog. I focus on skills that are often seen as a lost art, like cooking from scratch, sewing by hand, and managing a home with creativity and mindfulness. Many of us are reclaiming these traditions as modern homemakers, whether through learning to tend a garden or creating a sanctuary for our families. In this blog, I explore pagan homemaking practices that can transform your home into a spiritual and nurturing space.

Homemaking is about mastering creativity and being innovative and independent. Personally, I’ve never believed in the whole ‘man is the leader’ trope. Instead, I believe that husbands and wives are equal halves of one whole. Husbands have areas where they lead. Their job is to provide and protect.

But wives have their own domains. Their job is to turn a home into a place of sanctuary for all who live in it, and to nurture the family. Being a homemaker means you are the ultimate girl boss. The home will take on your own style and personality. This is the area where you lead.

Creative Writing

My other passion is creative writing, with a focus on world-building, fantasy, and science fiction. I specialize in creating rich, immersive worlds, inspired by my love for history, astronomy, and mythology. Whether you’re a homemaker looking for a creative outlet or a writer seeking inspiration, my blog offers writing tips, character development techniques, and guides to building interesting fictional worlds.

My degree in history and obsession with science, astronomy, and Earth sciences has led to my interest in writing fantasy and science fiction. I am a huge nerd and my inspirations are Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, the Legend of Drizzt, X-files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Supernatural, as well as my favorite anime Rurouni Kenshin. You can expect me to reference these shows and books often.

In 2015, I published a book series called The Next Dimension. After realizing that I sort of suck at the business side of writing, I’ve recently taken my book ‘off the air’ so to speak and revamp it into smaller 2000 word segments, which will be available through a monthly subscription soon!

My other project, which will also be part of this segment, is an alternative history fantasy called All Those Distant Stars.

These two stories will be available every other Friday starting in Winter 2025.

My creative writing is my greatest passion. And this is where modern homemaking comes into play because I don’t believe that just because a woman focuses on the home and the domestic sphere doesn’t mean she is barred from making her own income, having her own side hustle. In fact, being a homemaker has allowed me to focus more on being creative and that makes me a better writer. And I hope this blog can help you do the same.

A Spiritual Nature Based Perspective

As a blended-belief pagan, my spiritual practice is deeply rooted in nature-based rituals and traditions. My beliefs are a mix of Greek, Norse, and Celtic paganism, along with aspects of Native American spirituality from my Mexican heritage. I believe that spirituality is an essential part of homemaking—it provides a moral and emotional foundation for creating a balanced and peaceful home.

My spiritual journey has taken me on a long path to exploring myself and my beliefs. I was born and raised a Catholic with Mexican and Spanish roots. But I never felt quite satisfied with Christianity. I always felt there was something more.

My journey led me to Judaism when I was in college. I spent a lot of time with my school’s Jewish organization, practiced religion with them, even came close to converting for a time. But even then, I still felt not quite satisfied.

About 15 years ago, I came across a YouTube video about Paganism, and it was through this I truly felt spiritual. I have always felt a deep connection to the universe and to my ancestors and I felt this was the way to really awaken my spirituality.

I also incorporate the philosophies of Eastern religions, such as Taoism, Shintoism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. And I never left behind my past in Christianity and Judaism.

My religious beliefs are personalized to me. No one else can truly replicate them. I don’t follow the beliefs of man and no book truly defines my beliefs. But at the deepest core, my true devotion lies with nature, the essence of the universe, which is also called God. To me, it is all the same and so far beyond anyone’s understanding that it’s absolutely impossible for any human being to define it.

So this blog will focus on Spiritual nature based paganism. But once in a while, the ideals of my blended path will show up. I believe spirituality is important to homemaking and creative writing because it provides us with a moral framework for our lives.

By exploring mythologies, we learn lessons our ancestors want us to learn. Is the story of Demeter or Persephone real? Maybe, maybe not. But the message and stories they convey, and the morality contained within them, that is what’s real.

One of my goals with this blog is to explore morality and values through paganism. By studying the myths and legends that teach us values, and by studying the voices of ancient philosophers like Marcus Aurelius, Aristotle, and Sun Tzu, we can maintain a balanced and moral life that will keep us spiritually fulfilled.

I also aim to bridge the distance between pagans and the Abrahamic faiths. I believe that even though our beliefs about the divine are different, our values and morals are the same and we can come together through them. So although this blog is based on Pagan spirituality, I hope Christians will find it useful too. My only rule is to keep an open mind, be tolerant, and have no attempts at converting! We are all spiritual people and we have so much in common and through this blog; I hope we can share our beliefs meaningfully.

Nutrition and Health

Besides homemaking, I share my personal journey with nutrition and holistic health. I started the carnivore diet in September 2024 as part of my effort to manage my kidney disease and regain control over my health. My blog will feature monthly updates, sharing both my successes and challenges with a focus on whole foods, low-carb nutrition, and maintaining a clean diet free of harmful chemicals.

Some basics about me

Some basic facts about me I haven’t included yet are that I am married, my husband and I have been together since we were 19 (me) and 20 (him) and are now in our 40s. My husband and I are child-free by choice.

I am the oldest of four, my siblings and I are all very close and they and their families are all regular contributors to this blog. My husband and I have 8 nieces and nephews between us. My sisters are also blended faith pagans.

I am also on the autism spectrum.

My family and I run three online businesses, each tied to our belief in sustainable, nature-based living. At Knotted Leaf Weddings, we create unique paper florals. Knotted Leaf Ranch offers artisanal coffee and smoked salts, and Rogue’s Hollow provides crystals and trinkets for spiritual and home use.
