9 traits of masculine energy that you can embrace for a balanced life

What is masculine energy, and what benefits can it hold for you?

If you want to live a more balanced life, one that is in tune with nature and spirituality, then it’s time to get in touch with the energy and vibes that surround us and learn how to call upon this energy to ground yourself and bring clarity and understanding to your life.

Masculine energy is just one type of spiritual energy that flows through us all. By understanding what it is and how to use it, you can achieve the balance in your life that we all strive for.

What is Masculine Energy?

You may think by the name that masculine energy is only for the male sex, but in fact, it flows through all of us. Women can tap into this energy as well.

In nature, there are many kinds of spiritual energy that work in tandem with one another. Like the yin and yang, they exist to balance one another like two halves of one whole. Masculine and feminine energy are examples of this.

The divine masculine refers to the energy that gives you the drive to take action. It helps you think logically and reasonably. It provides focus and clarity. It is the energy of protection, fortitude, willpower, leadership, and power. Without it, society could never have been built.

Masculine energy is more prevalent in men. This is true. When you think of people in history or even in fiction who possess the above traits, almost all of them will be men.

But that doesn’t mean women can’t possess these traits as well, and there are plenty of examples of women in both history and fiction who have traits associated with masculine energy.

Action and Doing

Masculine energy is the energy of action. It’s assertiveness. It’s what spurs us on in our lives and keeps us always moving forward. Society was built by ambitious people who were driven to move forward, to progress.

Be assertive and do what you need to do. Always keep moving forward. This is how you activate masculine energy in your life. Let it propel you forward, always reaching for the next thing and always moving.

The divine masculine knows when to take action and when to take risks.

Logic and rationality

Masculine energy is the energy of logic and reason. The divine masculine understands the world around him. He knows things are the way they are. He doesn’t let emotions get in the way of reason. He listens to his mind more than his heart.

When you approach a crossroads in life, examine each path logically. Organize your thoughts.

Logic games are a great way to train your mind to think rationally. Games that require logical reasoning can exercise this aspect of your being. Check out this book of brain challenges to exercise your logic muscle here:

Focus and clarity

Masculine energy is the energy of focus. It gives us the ability to think about problems objectively.

The divine masculine is the master of the clearer picture. He sees all sides of the puzzle. He is wise.

Protective

The divine masculine protects those around him. He is the warrior. He will put his own safety aside for those he loves.

This is my favorite aspect of masculine energy, and it is the one most associated with masculinity. To protect others, a man must have honor and courage. He must know how to face his enemies and be willing to do so for the sake of those he loves.

Imagine all the warriors of history—the ones willing to charge into battle and sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Some examples from fiction include Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Drizzt Do’Urden from R. A. Salvatore’s The Legends of Drizzt novels.

Willpower and Fortitude

The divine masculine is able to endure. He has a sound mind and a powerful body, and he can put his head down and take it for survival.

When the going gets tough, masculine energy helps give you the strength to endure. We all go through hard times in life, and it’s easy to give up and give in. But those who keep going, no matter how hard it is, are the ones who endure.

Leadership

Masculine energy gives us the strength to be leaders. Live by example to inspire others to follow you. Be humble. Be self-disciplined.

Leadership isn’t just about giving orders and expecting people to do what you say. It’s also about understanding the responsibility of being a leader.

What are some signs of an imbalance of masculine energy?

Like anything in life, too much of a good thing can become a bad thing. If you have an imbalance of masculine energy, either too much or not enough, it can manifest itself into toxic behaviors. Whether you are a man or a woman, the imbalance can cause trouble in your relationships with others and, of course, your relationships with yourself.

Some traits that may show an imbalance of masculine energy in a man might be when a man is overly critical, insensitive, aggressive, distant, or possessive, becoming power-hungry or tyrannical, not admitting his mistakes, or lacking the courage to stand up for what he believes in.

In women, an imbalance of masculine energy might manifest as being manipulative, controlling, bossy, lacking boundaries, lacks self-confidence.

The best way to address an imbalance is by reflecting on yourself. Self-care, meditation, journaling, and maintaining communication with your partner are all important ways to address possible imbalances.

What about feminine energy?

You may be wondering why this post seems focused on masculine energy and where the feminine energy is. And yes, feminine energy is equally important for a balanced life.

Feminine energy complements masculine energy. Where the divine masculine is the energy of power, logic, action, focus, and protection, the divine feminine is the energy of creation, intuition, compassion, and emotion. Where the divine masculine is intelligence and reason, the feminine is wisdom and expression.

I plan to write an article focusing on the divine feminine in the future.

How do I use masculine energy in my life?

How are you using these traits in your life by combining all the traits we talked about—action, logic, focus, protection, fortitude, and leadership? Are you staying motivated? Are you reasonable about your goals? Are you learning to focus your mind? Do you protect those around you?

There are certain times of the year when masculine energy is more prevalent in nature, and this is the best time to become in tune with it. On the wheel of the year, Beltane and Litha are good times to learn to manifest the divine masculine. Beltane takes place around May 1 in the northern hemisphere and in late October in the southern hemisphere. Litha is the summer solstice, usually around June 21st in the northern hemisphere and December 21st in the southern hemisphere.

Meditate to gain focus and grounding. Read stories and philosophy about these traits. I recommend reading something like the Havamal. It’s considered to be wisdom from the voice of Odin, the Norse God. The Norse were warriors and valued these traits of masculine energy, like honor and strength.

Conclusion

Now that you understand masculine energy and have the tools you need, you can focus on balancing it.

Embrace masculine energy, whether you are a man or a woman. We learned that its positive traits, like action and logic, are tempered by feminine energy, which complements it.

We also learned how to recognize an imbalance of masculine energy. We can now use this knowledge in our daily lives when interacting with our partners, children, family, friends, and society.

Living a spiritual life is all about nature and balance. It’s about understanding the duality in nature that flows through us all. The divine masculine/the divine feminine, lightness/darkness, things that complement in nature but do not clash. Masculine energy is only one component of the universe’s complex puzzle.

But now, you understand at least one of these spiritual vibes.
